1. The Move Language for a Better Build Experience: The Aptos Blockchain natively integrates and internally uses the Move language for fast and secure transaction execution.Move is an expressive and easy-to-use programming language that emphasizes security and is designed for secure asset management.Move brings to Web3 the same secure, fast, and expressive approach to interaction that Rust brings to infrastructure development. The Aptos Blockchain shares many of the same core design principles with Move, making Aptos an efficient and enjoyable home for Move development.Move was originally designed for the predecessor to the Aptos Blockchain. This relationship ensures that existing Move developers can seamlessly build on Aptos, while new Move developers can benefit from documentation, guidelines, and examples that predate Aptos.Aptos has significantly improved the Move ecosystem by adding several features at the language and framework level. 2. Block-STM Enables More Programming Freedom: Block-STM is a novel parallel execution engine from Aptos, built on the principles of software transactional memory and optimistic concurrency control for smart contracts. This novel approach to transaction parallelism enables faster transaction processing without compromising the developer experience. Unlike parallel execution engines that destroy the atomicity of transactions, Block-STM enables developers to code without limitations and achieve higher throughput and lower latency for real-world application scenarios. Developers can easily build highly parallelized applications using Block-STM.Block-STM supports richer atomics than other parallel execution environments, which typically require operations to be split into multiple transactions (destroying logical atomics). 3. On-chain Governance and Decentralization: In order to support a truly decentralized and permissionless Layer 1, Aptos has built-in On-chain Governance, which enables seamless network and VM configuration changes, as exemplified by the Aptos incentivized test network3 and the main network. On the primary network, network reliability is improved by lowering the "vote increase limit". Setting more aggressive thresholds can quickly bootstrap the network. Over 521 TP3T token holders voted on this proposal to help protect our network. Since its creation, the Aptos community has been able to create and vote on proposals that affect the behavior of the Aptos blockchain. Governance proposals can make changes to inter-period duration, minimum and maximum verifier pledge requirements; software upgrades that modify flags to take advantage of the core blockchain code; and upgrades to the Aptos Framework Modules, a set of modules that provide Move developers with core libraries for fixing bugs or enhancing Aptos blockchain functionality.
4. AptosBFTv4 Consensus Improves Efficiency:AptosBFTv4 is the first production-grade blockchain BFT protocol with strict proof of correctness. The protocol delivers low latency and high throughput and takes full advantage of the underlying network.Aptosv4BFT improves Hotstuff by reducing commit latency from 3 to 2 steps, reducing 33% latency without sacrificing communication complexity (a result published in Jolteon).AptosBFTv4 uses a pipelined approach, similar to a processor to ensure that resources are fully utilized at each step. As a result, a single node can participate in many aspects of consensus, including selecting transactions to be included in a block, executing another set of transactions, writing the output of another set of transactions to storage, and authenticating transactions.
